Have a look inside and be taken back to the beginning of the 17th century. In here in the old blacksmith's workshop you can see what went on in such a place at that time.

The workshop is from around the 1840'ties. Originally it stood at a big farm by the name Skovlyst. The farm stood at Hallingskovvej. A tale says that the farmer got cross when he one day found the blacksmith drinking a beer with some other chaps while relaxing. The farmer didn't want to have any drinking in his forge. The smithy then said that it was his forge but the farmer thought that because it stood on his proporty he could decide. The blacksmith moved his forge to a piece of land owned by the famlily Weber in Christiansminde by the gate house not far from the farm.

In 1993 it had to be torn down to give space for a bigger road nearby. The forge was thanks to Svendborg Metal reerected stone by stone where it is now. The forge is moved to the present place under management of architect Jes Heine Andersen, Svendborg and reerected in collaboration with students and teachers from Svendborg technical school. The project was financed by Dansk Metal.
